There are many great things to do in Los Angeles once you leave the LAX parking lot.

Summer Festival

Grand Performances’ summer series presents innovative and entertaining works in Downtown Los Angeles, not very far from the LAX parking lot, from July to October. Times and performances vary, but visit www.grandperformaces.org to see what is playing during your visit.

Concerts

In the summer there is a series of afternoon and evening concerts such as jazz, salsa, zydeco, swing, and other genres. Grand Performances holds concerts July through September, Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon until 2 pm and the third Sunday of the month from 3 pm to 5 pm in Pershing Square in the center of L.A. It is a shirt distance from the LAX parking lot.

Ford Amphitheatre

The Ford Amphitheatre, also in Pershing Square, presents more than 100 shows in a 1200-seat amphitheatre each summer. These shows include jazz, world music, and classical music performances; dance; theater; films; choral events; and family shows. Information about upcoming shows can be found at www.fordamphitheatre.org. Check out the price before you go to the performance, some of them may have a fee. Be sure to check out the park after you leave LAX parking.

San Dimas Music in the Park

Free live concerts on summer evenings on Wednesday nights in the City of San Dimas. While this is almost an hour from the LAX parking lot, it is a nice trip outside Los Angeles to see the surrounding area and enjoy some free live music.

Shakespeare by the Sea

About half an hour from the LAX parking lot, Shakespeare in the Park has shows Thursday-Saturday through mid-July. The shows begin at 8 pm and are free to attend. Performances are announced closer to the opening date. You can bring a picnic, blankets, and chairs for this performance overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Fourth of July

There is a street fair featuring artisans, food booths, nonprofit organizations, and five stages of continuous live entertainment. There are also fireworks and a salute to L.A. Of course, this event takes place on Independence Day.
