Bars, Pubs, and Lounges

Bar 107

If you are looking for a bar that has a New York feel with a Chicago attitude, Bar 107 is the place! With live bands, DJ's, and the best jukebox in LAX, this place even offers cheap drinks! With shots of rum for $1 on Thursdays from 12am to 1am, pints of PBR for $3 on Tuesday, if you like to drink head over to Bar 107! Designed and renovated by Vianey Delgadillo after purchasing Latino gay bar ‘The Score’ she turned it into a kitschy-cool hub for artists, loft-dwellers and USC graduates. There is no cover for this bar and you can enjoy the soaring 20ft ceilings, four rooms, dance floor, and the smoking patio. There is also plenty of off street parking! There is live music on Mondays and Wednesdays; Fridays DJs Damion and Tenniel mix sleazy disco, old-school, mash-ups, metal and '70s punk. In tribute to the venue's former incarnation, Bar 107 hosts Latin Heat on Saturdays.

The Broadway Bar

The gracious and glamorous interior takes you back to a time where downtown nightclubs and cocktail lounges were king. With its perfectly 50-foot circle bar as the centrepiece of the room, everyone and everything can be seen. The chandeliers, the swanky upstairs lounge and the street-facing smoking patio reel in patrons from all over LAX. Parking is also free after 7pm in 826 Broadway lot; street parking on 8th St. The open mezzanine gives a sense of privacy while looking over the festivals below, with its own bar and smoking balcony; the intimate setting is great for private parties! During happy hour (Mon-Fri 5pm-9pm), each drink purchase earns a poker chip that can be redeemed for another free drink!

Comedy Clubs

The Groundlings Theatre

Located in West Hollywood, the Groundlings Theatre is one of the best-known and loved sketch/improv theatre in LAX. It originally began as the Gary Austin Workshop in 1972, but as improvisation classes became more popular, students started performing material to various places to invited audiences such as in the White House and The Improv. Since then, the theatre has produced more than its fair share of "Saturday Night Live" and TV sitcom performers. Among the theatre’s talented alumni are Lisa Kudrow, Will Ferrell, and Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman) whom all got their start on the Groundlings stage. Enjoy a variety of shows such as the Groundlings Mystery Train, Crazy Uncle Joe, and OOSunday. Tickets cost between $10-20, and you can order by phone (323) 934-4747. When you get there, you can choose either valet or street parking.

The Laugh Factory

There is no shortage of comedy clubs in LA, but this venue has been an industry leader since Jamie Masada opened it in 1979. Coming to USA at age 14 with little money and a dream to become a comedian, he worked a number of odd jobs and eventually saved enough to open the Laugh Factory on Sunset Strip in 1979. Today it is one of the best-known comedy stages in the world! With its hip atmosphere and valet parking, stars such as Chris Rock, Robin Williams, and Adam Sadler have been sighted. As well, Jerry Seinfeld, Rodney Dangerfield and the Wayans brothers have all performed here! Over the years, the Laugh Factory has hosted TV shows and a number of Hollywood events. See shows such as the Chocolate Sundaes, hosted by former "Vibe" TV host Chris Spencer, go come out for Monday Latino Night which has been going strong for more than 19 years. Tickets cost between $15-27.

Dance Clubs

Club 740

Located downtown LAX, this decadent downtown club has lured in Usher, Missy Elliot, Sean Paul and members of the Black Eyed Peas since its grand opening in May 2005! Unlike the exclusive places in Hollywood, everyday clubbers don't need to have their name on the VIP list to get in. Just dress nicely! With bars on each of its three levels, framed with glass walls, this vibrant club also has a Kyrogenic jet-blast system, a popular device used in Miami clubs to occasionally cool off the crowd. There are also VIP lounges each with their own hosts, guards and waitresses. Sit back and enjoy the supreme bottle service. See international DJ talent like Derrick Carter on Friday nights, while Jumbo from Club Nit takes over on Saturdays with hip-hop, Latin vibe, top 40 and catchy indie rock to a young and trendy crowd. Cover is $20 for the club and bottle service is $150-$700. There is a nearby lot for parking.
