Los Angeles International Airport is one of the world’s largest air travel facilities, connecting millions of passengers to hundreds of international destinations each and every day! Originally known as the Mines Field, LAX has been used as a general aviation site for nearly eighty years, as well as providing military flight patches during the Second World War. Designated a commercial airline service provider in December of 1946, the Los Angeles International Airport has had a huge impact on the city and its surrounding economy, accommodating tens of thousands of visitors each and every week! An outstanding gateway portal for all types of tourists and business travelers, the LAX airport handles approximately 70 percent of Southern California’s passenger airline travel annually, so why not decide to fly the skies with one of the nations most trusted airports?! Call now and book your flight to America’s classiest airport: LAX!

Interesting Statistics about the Los Angeles International Airport

  • Los Angeles International is the fifth busiest airport in the world, based on the number of passengers. LAX also ranks sixth in worldwide tons of air cargo handled.
  • LAX is currently home to just 25,000 parking spaces – not nearly enough for an airport of its size! (Thankfully the Johnny Park Indoor LAX Parking Garage is just minutes away!)
  • Approximately 80 passenger carriers and nearly 20 freight carriers currently operate out of LAX. These include all major international airlines as well as some of the world’s most recognizable names in shipping.

The LAX Terminals

The Los Angeles International Airport currently maintains nine terminals with more than 140 aircraft parking spots and four runways. One of the area’s largest hubs of air transportation, the Los Angeles International Airport spans a distance of about 3,425 acres within the city of LA, just minutes from some of the area’s hottest attractions and most luxury landmarks. Terminals in the airport are designated by number, running from One through Eight in a counterclockwise arrangement (the Tom Bradley Terminal is located at the facilities far west end). Each terminal is further broken down into gates providing travelers with quick and easy access to both domestic and international flights. Scheduled outbound buses and courtesy shuttle vans (like the one provided by the Johnny Park Indoor LAS Parking Garage!) can be located on the Lower/Arrival islands in front of each terminal underneath their designated signs.

Services and Amenities

The Los Angeles International Airport is proud to provide travelers with access to a wide variety of onsite services and amenities, all of which are intended to help make the stress of traveling just a little less difficult! These services including everything from restaurants and lounges to temples and chapels, so please, fell free to stop and take advantage of one or more of these stellar services. Numerous shops are also available within each terminal providing travelers with an outstanding selection of merchandise, as well as reading material, musical distractions and city souvenirs. All terminals are also equipped with numerous washrooms, high-speed internet cubical, numerous help and reference desks, as well as duty free shops and vending machine technology. Other amenities include a state-of-the-art first aid center inside the Tom Bradley International Terminal, courtesy telephones connecting you directly to a variety of area hotels and car rental agencies as well as a free shuttle service between terminals.

Exhibits and Artwork

If you’ve got some time to waste during your upcoming LAX airport adventure, the Johnny Park Indoor LAX Parking Garage staff highly recommends visiting any one of the airports outstanding exhibits and artistic showcases. There are currently five public art displays currently on show at the airport including the LAX Pylons (a distinctive lighting landmark located along Century Boulevard), the Youth Take Flight Art Academy, the LAX 9/11 Art Exhibit, the Print-Making Exhibit and a Flight Path Learning Center display. Other smaller pieces of artwork can also be found throughout the facilities nine terminals.
