Los Angeles has so many museums that you could spend you entire trip from the time you leave the LAX parking lot to the time you return. However, losangeles.com is a website of the top museums in the city.

Getty Center

On the way from the LAX parking lot you will most likely pass the Getty Center. It is an art museum famous for its unique stone and glass design. There are airy exhibition spaces and an extensive collection that makes the trip worthwhile.

Museum of Tolerance

This is a unique hands-on museum that focuses on the dynamics of racism and prejudice in America as well as keeping alive the memory of the Holocaust to show how racism can have profound effects. It is about 20 minutes from the LAX parking lot.

California Science Center

Located near the University of California campus in Exposition Park, the Science Center is great for the whole family. Located about 20 minutes from the LAX parking lot, visitors can take a high-wire bicycle ride, view the inner workings of the human body, and view IMAX films about monkeys and NASA.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art

Located about 10 miles from the LAX parking lot, this is Los Angeles' primary art museum with world-class exhibitions. Special events take place every weekend here: there are free Friday night jazz concerts in the courtyard and Friday and Saturday night screenings in a great classic-film series.

Museum of Contemporary Art

Located about 20 miles from the LAX parking lot, this is a major force in modern art in the United States. In 2002 the museum hosted the first major Andy Warhol exhibit in more than a decade and was the only North American stop on the tour. The permanent collection contains art from after 1940, with major pieces by de Kooning, Hockney, Lichtenstein, Pollock, and Rauschenberg.

Museum of Jurassic Technology

This is an obscure museum that fuses science and the ridiculous. Probably one of the most unique museums in the city, features include exhibits on the Stink Ant of the Cameroon and Selected Collections from Los Angeles Area Mobile Homes and Trailer Parks.
